Cyphomyrmex wheeleri, commonly called the fungus gardening ant, is a species of higher myrmicine ant belonging to the family Formicidae. As its common name indicates, this species grows a variety of different fungi. It cultivates the species Cladosporium cladosporioides, Fusarium solani, and Nigrospora sphaerica throughout the entire year.
