About Cyperus surinamensis Rottb.

Cyperus surinamensis Rottb. is an annual or short-lived perennial sedge that typically grows between 0.35 and 0.8 metres (1.15 to 2.62 ft) in height. It blooms from late spring to early fall, and produces reddish-brown flowers. This species is native to the southeastern United States, Mexico, and parts of Central America. It is an alien species in Western Australia, where it occurs in the Kimberley region. Ecologically, it grows in sunny areas with disturbed soil, at elevations ranging from sea level up to 200 metres (656 ft) above sea level.
