About Cyperus strigosus L.

Cyperus strigosus L. is a species of sedge that has two common names: false nutsedge and straw-colored flatsedge. It is native to the United States, Canada, and Cuba, where it grows in wet areas across many habitat types. This includes disturbed and cultivated locations like roadsides and crop fields. The species is common, and it is sometimes considered weedy. It is a perennial sedge that reaches up to 70 centimeters in height. Its inflorescence is a cluster of many linear-shaped spikelets, each of which can grow up to 3 centimeters long. A few long, leaf-like bracts grow at the base of the inflorescence cluster. Populations of this species have been introduced to Bulgaria, France, Italy, Spain, and Bangladesh.
