About Cyperus brevifolius (Rottb.) Hassk.
Cyperus brevifolius (Rottb.) Hassk. is a species of sedge that goes by multiple common names: shortleaf spikesedge, green kyllinga, perennial greenhead sedge, and kyllinga weed. It is native to tropical areas of the Americas, but now occurs as an introduced species in warm regions across the globe. This is a rhizomatous perennial herb that grows one to several erect stems. These stems can reach a maximum height of around half a meter, and often grow much shorter. It produces tiny inflorescences, each made up of a few spikelets; the entire inflorescence measures less than one centimeter in total length. Its pollen grains are tiny, approximately 20 to 30 microns in size. It sometimes grows as a weed in wet areas, including cultivated land and irrigation ditches.
