The mangrove blue flycatcher, with the scientific name Cyornis rufigastra, is a bird species that belongs to the Muscicapidae family. It is native to Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Thailand. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. The Clements taxonomic system splits the Kalao blue flycatcher (Cyornis kalaoensis) into its own separate distinct species, while the International Ornithological Congress (IOC) still classifies it as a subspecies of the mangrove blue flycatcher.
