About Cynophalla flexuosa (L.) J.Presl

This species is currently classified as Cynophalla flexuosa (L.) J.Presl, and was previously known under the synonym Morisonia flexuosa, commonly called the bay-leaved caper. It is a shrub reaching a height of 2 to 4 meters. It flowers from early to mid summer. Its flowers range in color from white to pink, and have thin petals that measure 1.5 cm long. Its fruits are green and cylindrical, growing up to 15 cm long. Ripe fruits split open to reveal numerous white seeds inside, and the fruit pulp is bright pink. It grows in coastal regions distributed from Florida, the West Indies, and Mexico, through Central America, to South America.
