Cymothoe alcimeda, commonly known as the battling glider, is a butterfly species that belongs to the Nymphalidae family. It can be found in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Males of this species have a wingspan ranging from 40 to 50 mm, while females have a larger wingspan between 45 and 55 mm. Adult Cymothoe alcimeda are active year round, though they are most commonly seen starting in October during the summer months. Activity peaks in November, and again between February and April. The larvae of this butterfly feed on Kiggelaria africana.
