About Cymbopogon ambiguus (Hack.) A.Camus

Cymbopogon ambiguus (common name Australian lemon-scented grass) is a plant species belonging to the grass family Poaceae. This species produces fragrant bluish-green to grey leaves and fluffy seed heads, and it is self-fertile. In cultivation, Cymbopogon ambiguus requires a sunny growing position. Once it is established, it can tolerate extreme dryness. It can be grown in any type of soil, needs very little water, and reaches a full grown height of 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in). It can be propagated either by dividing established clumps or growing from seed. Infusions and other preparations made from Cymbopogon ambiguus have been used in traditional Aboriginal Australian medicine to treat headaches, chest infections, and muscle cramps. This species has also been proposed as a candidate for use in rhizoremediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils.
