About Cylindera germanica (Linnaeus, 1758)
Cylindera germanica, first described by Linnaeus in 1758, is a living species of tiger beetle that belongs to the genus Cylindera. This species is distributed across most of Europe, with its range extending from Scandinavia through Central Europe to the Balkans. Four subspecies of Cylindera germanica are currently recognized: Cylindera germanica germanica, Cylindera germanica michaelensis, Cylindera germanica muelleri, and Cylindera germanica sobrina. Cylindera germanica has one accepted synonym: Cicindela germanica Linnaeus, 1758. The nominate subspecies, C. g. germanica, occupies a broad range across most of Europe and eastern Russia. This subspecies is confirmed to be absent from Greece, Corsica, Sicily, and Turkey. There is scientific uncertainty regarding whether the nominate subspecies occurs in Poland.
