About Cyclophora linearia (Hübner)

This species is Cyclophora linearia (Hübner). Its wingspan ranges from 26 to 33 mm. The basic wing colour is pale brown to orange for the first generation, and rose red for the second generation. Three crosslines, coloured black to reddish, are present on the forewing, and the middle crossline is wider than the other two. The crosslines are often vague in the second generation. The original description also covers some aberrations of this species. The egg is elongate-oval, marked with fine hexagonal or rather irregularly polygonal ribbing. It is pale yellow initially, and later develops red markings. The larva is slender and naked, pale green, with small yellow spots on the dorsum.
