Cyclamen purpurascens Mill. is known by the scientific name Cyclamen purpurascens Mill. It flowers from summer through autumn, retains its leaves throughout the winter, and produces seeds and new leaves the following summer. In terms of distribution, Cyclamen purpurascens grows in deciduous or mixed woodland, particularly among beech trees and over limestone ground. It occurs at elevations between 250 and 1,300 meters (800 to 4,300 feet) above sea level in continental Europe, ranging from eastern France across the Alps to Poland and extending south to Bosnia and Herzegovina. It can also be found in mountainous areas of Romania and western Russia, where it has been introduced.
