About Cyanophrys longula (Hewitson, 1868)
Cyanophrys longula, commonly called the long-winged greenstreak, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae. This species was first formally described by William Chapman Hewitson in 1868. Its core distribution is in Mexico, with stray individual butterflies recorded from southeastern Arizona. It has also been documented from Hawaii. The wingspan of adult long-winged greenstreaks measures 21 to 30 mm. In Mexico, adult butterflies are active in flight from March to May, and again from August to December. The larvae of this species feed on a broad variety of host plants, including plant species that belong to the Asteraceae and Verbenaceae families.
