About Cyanocorax cyanopogon (Wied-Neuwied, 1821)

The white-naped jay, scientifically named Cyanocorax cyanopogon, is a bird species that belongs to the Corvidae family. This species is endemic to Brazil, where local people call it Gralha Cancã or Cancão. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest, and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. White-naped jays can interbreed with plush-crested jays, and hybrids between these two species have been recorded. The two species look very similar visually, and they are often mistaken for one another. White-naped jays are sometimes used as a food source by humans, and they are also sometimes kept as pets.
