About Curio archeri (Compton) P.V.Heath
Curio archeri (Compton) P.V.Heath is a small, low-growing succulent with rhizomes and a small number of short, erect stems. Leaves are concentrated at the very top tip of each stem. The leaves are blue-green, pruinose, and typically flattened laterally. Several translucent lines appear on each side of the leaf blade. This species produces flower capitula that lack ray florets, and each capitulum grows at the tip of a slender, erect inflorescence. This species is native to south-western areas of Western Cape Province, South Africa. It grows in rocky habitats in the western Little Karoo, the Robertson Karoo, and the Overberg region. It is closely related to three other species: Curio citriformis, which occurs in the Little Karoo further north, as well as Curio crassulifolius and Curio repens, which is also known by the synonym Senecio serpens.
