About Curetis thetis (Drury, 1773)

Curetis thetis, commonly known as the Indian sunbeam, is a species of lycaenid butterfly. It is native to the Indomalayan realm. This butterfly's distribution includes Peninsular India south of the Himalayas, where it does not live in desert regions or areas with low rainfall. It can also be found in parts of Assam, Saurashtra, Bengal, Sylhet, extending through to Myanmar, as well as in the Nicobar Islands, Sri Lanka, Java, the Philippines, northern Sulawesi, and Selajar. Recorded food plants for its larvae include Pongamia glabra, Derris scandens, and Abrus precatorius from the Leguminosae family, plus Xylia dolabriformis and Heynia trijuga from the Meliaceae family.
