About Curetis saronis Moore, 1877

Curetis saronis, commonly known as the Burmese sunbeam or Saronis sunbeam, is a species of butterfly that belongs to the lycaenid family. It occurs in the Indomalayan realm. Its documented distribution includes eastern India, Assam, the area from Sylhet to Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina, Sumatra, Singapore, Pulau Rumbia, and the Nicobar Islands. Subspecies of Curetis saronis include Curetis saronis gloriosa Moore, 1884 found from Sylhet to Myanmar, Curetis saronis indosinica Fruhstorfer, 1908 found in Thailand, and Curetis saronis sumatrana Corbet, 1937 found in Sumatra. Subspecies have also been described from the Nicobar Islands.
