Curculio elephas, formally described by J.C.Fabricius in 1781, is a species of beetle belonging to the Curculionidae family, which is the family of true weevils. Its common name is the chestnut weevil. In Europe, it is a serious pest of the sweet chestnut, Castanea sativa. This species is similar to two North American species, Curculio sayi and Curculio caryatrypes, found in the United States.
