About Cupidopsis jobates (Hopffer, 1855)

Cupidopsis jobates (originally referenced as Cupidopsis iobates in the original text), commonly known as the tailed meadow blue, is a species of butterfly in the Lycaenidae family. This butterfly is found across most of Africa located south of the Sahara Desert. Adult males have a wingspan ranging from 23 to 30 mm, while adult females have a wingspan ranging from 26 to 33 mm. In subtropical regions, adult tailed meadow blues are in flight from September through April and May, and can sometimes be seen flying in June and July. The larvae of this butterfly feed on the flowers of low-growing grassland Fabaceae species, including Rhynchosia puberula.
