About Cupido cissus (Godart, 1823)

Cupidopsis cissus, commonly known as the common meadow blue, is a butterfly belonging to the family Lycaenidae. This species is found across most of Africa that lies south of the Sahara desert. Males of this species have a wingspan ranging from 22 to 34 mm, while females have a slightly larger wingspan of 23 to 36 mm. Adult common meadow blue butterflies are active on the wing from September through April and May; in subtropical regions, they are sometimes also active in June and July. The larvae of this butterfly feed on the flowers of plant species from the genera Eriosema and Vigna.
