About Cucullia lychnitis Rambur, 1833

Technical description and variation for Cucullia lychnitis Rmb. (27 g): The forewing is narrow, pale ochreous, and has a more rufous tinge than Shargacucullia thapsiphaga (Treitschke, 1826), with a darker costal streak. The hindwing is whitish in both sexes, and the terminal shade is narrower in males. The larva is greenish white, with a pale yellow band on each segment. It has a dorsal row of curved black bars that alternate with rows of four black spots, and a row of black spots running along its sides. The wingspan of this species is 42–47 mm.
