About Cucullia lilacina Schaus, 1898

Cucullia lilacina Schaus, 1898 is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. It occurs in Mexico, the south-western United States, and has a single recorded female specimen from central Costa Rica. In the United States, it lives in the mountains of southern Arizona, with its range extending north to the White Mountains in the east and the Grand Canyon in the west. It is also present across most of New Mexico and in western Texas. Within Mexico, it has been recorded from the Federal District and Veracruz. This species has a wingspan of approximately 42 millimeters. In the United States, adult moths are active from June through October. Larvae of Cucullia lilacina have been successfully reared on the plant Erigeron divergens.
