Cucullia convexipennis, commonly known as the brown-hooded owlet or brown-bordered cucullia, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote and Coleman Townsend Robinson in 1868. It is distributed across the northeastern United States and the adjacent regions of Canada. This moth has a wingspan ranging from 40 to 50 mm, and its forewings measure 19 to 23 mm in length. Adults fly from May to September, with flight timing varying by location. The caterpillars of Cucullia convexipennis feed on plants in the genera Aster and Solidago, as well as the species Callistephus chinensis.
