About Cubelium concolor (T.F.Forst.) Raf.
Cubelium concolor, commonly called green violet, is a shrub-like herb that grows between 30 centimeters and 1 meter in height. It produces small, inconspicuous green flowers that grow close to the stem. Its blooming period runs from May to June in Ontario, and from April to June in Connecticut. The natural habitat of Cubelium concolor consists of nutrient-rich, calcareous forests and woodlands, and it typically grows in mesic or bottomland conditions. It occurs less frequently in dry forests and glades. This is a fairly conservative species, and only grows in areas that retain an intact native herbaceous layer. Most of the Canadian populations of this species are located along the Niagara Escarpment, which provides prime habitat for green violet.
