About Ctenoplusia limbirena (Guenée, 1852)
Ctenoplusia limbirena (Guenée, 1852) has a wingspan of 40–45 mm. Its palpi have a short third joint, and the hind femur of the male is not tufted with long hair. The head and thorax are covered in grey and black scales. The abdomen is pale, with dark dorsal tufts. Forewings are fuscous with a copper tinge, and feature ill-defined darker medial and submarginal patches. Minutely waved double sub-basal and antemedial lines on the forewings bear silvery specks. The orbicular and reniform spots are small, indistinct, and outlined with pink edges. A prominent silvery "Y-mark" is visible below the cell. A minutely waved double postmedial line angles inwards above vein 1. There are traces of an irregularly sinuous sub-marginal line, with a small pinkish patch located at the center of the outer margin. A marginal series of black specks is present. Hindwings are pale at the base, with the outer area suffused with fuscous and pale cilia. The ventral side has an indistinct lunule at the end of the cell and a waved postmedial line. The larvae are polyphagous, feeding on Geranium, Solanum, Nicotiana, Althea (Malvaceae), Salvia and Primula species.
