About Cryptophlebia ombrodelta (Lower, 1898)
This species, Cryptophlebia ombrodelta, has an adult wingspan of 15–22 mm. Its forewings range in color from brownish to reddish brown. Females have a distinctive dark-brown pre-tornal spot, while this spot is faded in males. Males have sex scales on the hindwing, hind tibia, and abdomen. Females have a costal fold on the forewings, a feature that is absent in males. Eggs are white, round, and flat, and are laid in small groups of 15 on fruit. Late-instar caterpillars are 13–20 mm long. The caterpillar abdomen is yellowish white, and this body color changes to red in the final instar. Pinacula are large and darker than the caterpillar's body. In early instars, the head and prothoracic shield are blackish to dark brown, and these structures turn pale to yellowish brown in the final instar. The anal comb is rudimentary, with 4 to 6 small teeth. The pupa is yellow brown.
