Victorin's warbler, also called Victorin's scrub warbler, has the scientific name Cryptillas victorini (Sundevall, 1860).

Previous Family Classification

It is a species of African warbler that was formerly classified in the family Sylviidae.

Genus Classification

It was recently separated from the genus Bradypterus, and is now the only species placed in the monotypic genus Cryptillas.

Endemic Distribution

This species is endemic to the fynbos of coastal Afromontane areas in South Africa.

Etymology

Both its common name and scientific name honor Johan Fredrik Victorin (1831–1855), a Swedish traveler who visited South Africa.
