About Cruciata pedemontana (Bellardi) Ehrend.
Cruciata pedemontana, commonly called the Piedmont bedstraw, is a plant species belonging to the Rubiaceae family. It is native to southern and central Europe, the Black Sea Basin, and southwestern and Central Asia, ranging from Turkey to Iran and Kazakhstan. It has also become naturalized in multiple regions of the United States: south-central and eastern areas from Texas to New York, and northwestern areas from Washington and Oregon to Montana. This species is an erect herb that grows up to 30 cm (12 inches) tall, and its entire body is covered in stiff hairs. It bears broadly ovate leaves, typically arranged in groups of four at each stem node. Its flowers are very small, rarely growing more than 1 mm (0.039 inches) across. These pale yellow flowers are borne in the leaf axils, the area where the leaf connects to the stem.
