About Croton texensis (Klotzsch) Müll.Arg.
Croton texensis (Klotzsch) Müll.Arg. has common names including Texas croton, goat weed, skunk weed, and doveweed. This plant species occurs in the United States. Among the Zuni people, this plant has several documented uses. A decoction made from the plant is taken to treat sick stomach, and it is also used as a purgative and a diuretic. An infusion of the plant is taken for stomachaches, syphilis, and gonorrhea. Before sucking out snakebite venom, a Zuni medicine man chews the fresh or dried root of this plant, and a poultice made from the root is applied to the snakebite wound. The entire plant can be placed under a mattress or burned to repel bedbugs.
