About Croptilon hookerianum (Torr. & A.Gray) House

Croptilon hookerianum, common name Hooker's scratchdaisy, is a North American flowering plant species that belongs to the tribe Astereae of the family Asteraceae. It has been recorded in the U.S. states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas. This species is an herb that can sometimes grow up to 120 cm (4 feet) tall. Its flower heads are yellow, containing both ray florets and disc florets. Three accepted varieties are recognized: Croptilon hookerianum var. graniticum (E.B.Sm.) E.B.Sm. found in Texas; Croptilon hookerianum var. hookerianum found in Texas; and Croptilon hookerianum var. validum (Rydb.) E.B.Sm. found in Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
