About Crocus nevadensis Amo & Campo

Crocus nevadensis Amo & Campo is a Crocus species native to North Africa and Spain. It grows in mountain meadows, scree, scrub, and open pine forests at elevations between 1000 and 3000 meters, and flowers from February to April. This species has fimbriate white stigmas. Its petals sometimes lack markings, which is especially common for plants growing around the Sierra de Cazorla region. When cultivated, these plants are very susceptible to botrytis infections. The fungus attacks faded flowers, can spread into the corm, and kill the plant.
