The wingspan of adult Crocota tinctaria ranges from 29 to 35 mm. Adult moths are active in flight during the months of June, July, and August. The larvae of this moth feed on species from the genera Polygonum bistorta, Gentiana, Leontodon, Rumex, Plantago, and Taraxacum.
