About Cratilla lineata (Brauer, 1878)
Cratilla lineata is a medium-sized dragonfly. It has a metallic-blue frons and brown-capped grey eyes. Its bronze-black thorax is marked with yellow. The thorax has a mid-dorsal carina, plus anterior and posterior stripes that are narrowly separated and very irregularly shaped. Each side of the thorax has four stripes: the first and third are rather broad, while the other two are narrow. Its abdomen is black, marked with bright ochreous-yellow. Segments 1 and 2 have moderately broad lateral and mid-dorsal stripes. Segments 3 through 8 have fine stripes that border the ventral edges of the segments and the mid-dorsal carina. Its anal appendages are black. Females are similar in appearance to males. This species is commonly found in forested areas of both lowland and montane regions. It prefers to breed in shaded, muddy pools and marshes within forests.
