About Craterellus calicornucopioides D.Arora & J.L.Frank

Craterellus calicornucopioides D.Arora & J.L.Frank is an edible fungus belonging to the Cantharellaceae family. It was first described by David Arora and Jonathan L. Frank in 2015. This species is the North American counterpart of the similar European species Craterellus cornucopioides, but molecular phylogenetic analysis has confirmed that the two are distinct species. C. calicornucopioides forms an association with oaks, manzanita, madrone, and Vaccinium, and produces fruiting bodies near these plants.
