About Crassula connata (Ruiz & Pav.) A.Berger

Crassula connata (Ruiz & Pav.) A.Berger is a succulent plant belonging to the family Crassulaceae. Its two common names are sand pygmyweed and pygmy stonecrop. This is a very small species that grows in patches across the ground, most often in rocky habitats. It can also sometimes be found growing as part of vernal pool plant communities. Its stems reach only a few centimeters in length, and are covered in tiny, fleshy, pointed leaves. Every individual leaf is just a few millimeters long. When the plant is young, it is green, and it develops pink and red shades as it matures. Its native range covers western North America, as well as parts of Central and South America.
