Cotalpa lanigera, commonly called the Goldsmith beetle, is a species of beetle that belongs to the family Scarabaeidae. Adult individuals of this species reach a length between 19 and 26 millimeters. The beetle's head and pronotum are yellow-brown in color, and its elytra are typically a paler shade of yellow. This species is active during the night. It can be found from late spring through early summer, where it feeds on the leaves of several tree types including poplars, silver maple, sweetgum, pear, hickory, and willow.
