About Cornutiplusia circumflexa (Linnaeus, 1767)
Technical description and variation for S. circumflexa L. (= daubei Frr. nec Bsd., graphica H-Sch, patefacta Walk.) (64c): Forewings are grey, with fuscous suffusion across the median and terminal areas. The inner and outer lines are pale, double, with a dark brown center. The inner line is obliquely directed inwards below the middle, and obscure above. The outer line is also oblique, irregularly lunulate-dentate, slightly distorted on vein 2 and the fold below it, and followed by a pale grey band that broadens toward the costa. The subterminal line is irregularly dentate and flexuous, preceded by a dark fuscous shade and black wedge-shaped marks. The stigmata are pale grey, with first a dark, then a pale lustrous outline. The median vein is pale. The subcellular mark is broad, bent at sharp right angles in the middle, with a pale brown center, edged first with dark, then with whitish yellow. Hindwings are smoky brown, with a broad blackish terminal border. The wingspan ranges from 34 to 50 mm.
