About Coreopsis rosea Nutt.
Coreopsis rosea, commonly called pink tickseed, is a North American species of the genus Coreopsis that belongs to the Asteraceae family. It has a discontinuous distribution across eastern Canada and the eastern United States, where it has been recorded in Nova Scotia, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Georgia, and South Carolina. This species grows in wet habitats, including the edges of marshes. Unlike the majority of Coreopsis species, its ray florets are pink or white, rather than yellow. The only other Coreopsis species that bears pink ray florets is C. nudata, and C. rosea does not appear to be closely related to Coreopsis species that only have red dots at the base of their rays. The disc florets of Coreopsis rosea are either bright yellow or pale yellow.
