About Coptops aedificator (Fabricius, 1793)

Coptops aedificator, commonly called the Albizia long-horned beetle, is a beetle species that belongs to the family Cerambycidae. It was first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1792, and was originally classified under the genus Lamia. This species is naturally found in Djibouti, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Oman, Gabon, India, Madagascar, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Senegal, South Africa, Seychelles, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Zambia. It has also been introduced to Cape Verde, Hawaii, and Taiwan. Coptops aedificator feeds on Theobroma cacao and multiple Coffea species, specifically Coffea arabica, Coffea canephora, and Coffea liberica var. dewevrei.
