About Coprosma cuneata Hook.f.
Coprosma cuneata Hook.f. is a slender shrub that grows up to 1 metre tall; on exposed sites, it may grow hugging the ground. Its flexible branchlets are dark to very dark brown, and bear clusters of small, dark green, narrow leaves. Stipules are oblong to triangular, with a tuft of hair at their apex. Leaves grow in widely spaced opposite pairs, on slender stalks 1 to 2 millimetres long. Each leaf is curved, measures 10 to 16 millimetres long by 2 millimetres wide, and is widest at the tip. The fruit of this plant is red, 3 to 5 millimetres in diameter, and remains on the shrub once mature. This species is distributed in the South Island and southern offshore islands of New Zealand. It grows from lowland areas up to 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) elevation, in habitats including forest, scrub and shrubland.
