Copiapoa coquimbana is a clump-forming cactus species native to South America. This cactus produces yellow flowers that are 3 cm (1.2 inches) long during the summer. It can grow up to 60 cm (2 feet) in height and reach 1 meter (3 feet) across. The species gets its name from Coquimbo, a city in Chile. Recognized infraspecific variations of this species include Copiapoa coquimbana var. wagenknechtii, Copiapoa coquimbana var. vallenarensis, and Copiapoa coquimbana subsp. andina.
