About Convolvulus hermanniae L'Hér.
Convolvulus hermanniae L'Hér. is a trailing or, less commonly, twining herb that grows from a thickened woody rootstock about 1 cm thick. All vegetative parts are grey - tomentose. The stems can reach up to 1 m long, and those of twining plants seem more slender. There are numerous stems. The leaves have petioles, measuring 2 - 6.5 x 0.5 - 3 cm, being ovate to ovate - deltoid. The auricles are not well - developed, the apex is acute to obtuse, the margin is undulate to irregularly dentate, and the base is cordate. The petioles are 5 - 12 (- 22) mm long. The flowers, 1 - 2 (- 3) in number, are axillary and pedunculate. The peduncles are 1 - 3 (- 6) cm long, often shorter than the leaves. The bracteoles are 2 - 4 mm, linear - lanceolate. The pedicels are 5 - 12 mm long. The outer sepals are 7 - 10 x 4 - 6 mm, (narrowly) elliptic and usually acute. The corolla is 1.4 - 1.8 cm long, white, shallowly lobed. The midpetaline bands extend into mucros and are tomentose. The ovary is conical, 1.5 - 2 mm, either glabrous or apically pilose. The style is divided 5 - 7 mm above the base, glabrous except immediately above the ovary. The stigmas are 2.5 - 3 mm. The capsule is glabrous or apically pilose, and the seeds are smooth. Two subspecies are recognized based on the indumentum of the ovary and capsule.
