About Conostephium pendulum Benth.
Conostephium pendulum grows to a height of 1 metre or less. Its leaves are oblong or linear, around 2.5 centimetres long, and end in a sharp point. Flowers grow between June and September; they are cream-colored with a red-purple tip, around 11 millimetres long, and tubular in shape, with the style extending out past the floral tube. Individual flowers hang from the leaf axils. Conostephium pendulum grows in sandy soil, most often in Banksia woodland; in the northern part of its range, it grows in heath. It is the most widespread and common species in its genus, found in the Avon Wheatbelt, Geraldton Sandplains, Jarrah forest, Swan Coastal Plain and Warren biogeographic regions of Western Australia. This species is not well known in cultivation, but it may respond to the same propagation and cultivation treatments used for closely related members of the family Ericaceae.
