Coniolepiota is a fungal genus that belongs to the family Agaricaceae. This genus is monotypic, meaning it contains only one single species: Coniolepiota spongodes. Coniolepiota spongodes was first scientifically described from material collected in Thailand. It was later reported to also occur in Bangladesh and China, and has additionally been observed in Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines, and South Africa.
