Commelina lanceolata R.Br. is a scrambling perennial herb belonging to the Commelinaceae plant family. It is native to Australia, where it occurs across Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland, and New South Wales. Scottish botanist Robert Brown first described this species in 1810, publishing his description in the work Prodromus Florae Novae Hollandiae et Insulae Van Diemen. This plant is common on floodplains, growing after floodwaters recede; it is also found along watercourses, and sometimes grows in shallow water.
