About Comibaena cassidara (Guenée)
Comibaena cassidara is a moth species in the family Geometridae, first described by Achille Guenée in 1857. This species has been recorded in Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Pakistan, China, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Borneo. Adult moths are typically green, with narrowly rufous-brown coloration at the tornus of the forewing and the apex of the hindwing. Their black discal spots are very small, and the forewing bears a faint, pale antemedial line. The caterpillar of Comibaena cassidara is mottled grey to brown, with small conical spines on its body. Long setiferous fleshy projections grow from both the thorax and abdomen. Pupation takes place inside a loose silken cocoon that incorporates frass. Known host plants for the species' caterpillars include Glycosmis pentaphylla, Anacardium occidentale, Mangifera indica, Cuscuta, Flemingia macrophylla, Ziziphus, Ixora, Lagerstroemia indica, Ziziphus jujuba, Ziziphus mauritiana, and Acacia nilotica.
