About Colvillea racemosa Bojer ex Hook.
Colvillea is a monotypic legume genus belonging to the plant family Fabaceae, with only one species: Colvillea racemosa Bojer ex Hook. The genus is named after Sir Charles Colville, a former Governor of Mauritius. Colvillea racemosa has the common name Colville's glory. This tree is especially well known for its bright orange flowers, which grow in large clusters shaped like cones or cylinders. After flowering, the tree produces long, flat, woody seed pods. It bears small deep green leaves that are superficially similar to the leaves of Delonix regia. The species is native to northern and western Madagascar, and it is currently widely cultivated as an ornamental plant in Australia and North America. Within its native range, it grows primarily in dry lowland forest and savannah habitats. Colvillea racemosa is classified as "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List.
