About Colocasia propinquilinea Grote, 1873

Colocasia propinquilinea, commonly known as the closebanded yellowhorn, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1873. It is distributed across North America, ranging from Newfoundland and Labrador westward along the southern edge of the boreal forest to central Alberta, and extending south to North Carolina, Missouri, and Arkansas. The wingspan of adult closebanded yellowhorn moths measures 35 to 45 mm. Adults can be seen in flight from April to July in the southern portion of the species' range, and from May to August in the northern portion. There is one generation of the moth per year in the north, while the south sees two or more generations annually.
