About Colocasia coryli (Linnaeus, 1758)
Colocasia coryli (Linnaeus, 1758) has a wingspan of 27 to 35 millimetres. The ground colour of its forewings varies from silver to brownish grey. The basal area of the forewing is darker, extending out as far as the median field, while the distal field is paler. Both the antemedian and postmedian lines are black. Its stigmata are round and outlined in black, with a white centre that is present sometimes. The fringe is chequered brown and grey. The hindwings are pale fuscous with darker veining. Some forewings are pearly grey with a brown tinge, and the blackish lines are vertical. The space between these lines is often dark brown. The form mus Oberth. from Amurland has a more bluish grey ground colour. The larva of Colocasia coryli is ochreous, covered with grey hairs. It has a dark dorsal line. It bears two long projecting pencils of black hairs on segment 2, one additional pencil of black hairs on segment 12, and two reddish brown erect tufts on segments 5 and 6.
