About Collomia grandiflora Lindl.

Collomia grandiflora Lindl. grows to approximately 1 meter (3 feet 3 inches) tall, producing an erect stem covered in hair or fuzz. The stem color ranges from red to green. Long, lance-shaped leaves, growing up to about 10 centimeters (4 inches), are spaced at wide intervals along the stem; the lowest leaves sometimes have toothed edges. An inflorescence holding several flowers sits at the top of the stem, with flower colors ranging from white to yellow or orange. Additional lower flowerheads may branch from the axils of the alternately arranged leaves. Each flower is tubular with a flat face, 2 to 3 centimeters wide. It has five fused, curving light-colored petals and five stamens, whose anthers carry blue pollen. The fruit is a capsule that contains sticky seeds. Some Native American groups used the roots and leaves of this plant for medicinal purposes.
