About Coleostephus myconis (L.) Rchb.fil.

Coleostephus myconis is an annual plant that grows between 20 and 50 centimetres (8 to 20 inches) tall. Its texture ranges from hairless (glabrous) to hairy. It has an erect stem that is usually branched. The lower leaves of this species are shaped like a spatula, while the middle stem leaves are lanceolate, toothed, and more or less clasp the stem. Its inflorescences are orange-yellow, measure about 2 to 3 centimetres (0.8 to 1.2 inches) wide, and grow as solitary terminal structures. The flowering season for C. myconis runs from April to July. This species is native to the Mediterranean region of southern Europe, where it typically grows in grassy fields at elevations between 0 and 800 metres (0 to 2,625 feet). It has also been introduced to southern Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, and is classified as an invasive species in these introduced areas.
